Mission
UtahBeerLife is a blog created to provide information on all things craft beer, with an emphasis on you, the newest person to the beer community. In addition, UtahBeerLife is dedicated to 1) show Utahns there is a wonderful world of craft beer out there to explore and enjoy, and 2) show the world that Utah is a kick ass place for craft beer and breweries (despite its repute).
Let me introduce myself
My name is Quinn. I consider myself new to the beer/craft beer/alcohol scene. Why is a middle-aged man just now new to the craft beer scene? The majority of my life (so far) has been diminished by the shroud of religion, leading me, guiding me down a path, which at the end, promised mansions and eternal life. Now that I'm out from under this confine, I am able to explore areas heretofore frowned upon. That being said, this blog is not about religion so let's save that discussion for a different forum. I only bring it up here because I have a feeling there are many more like me, whether because of religion or other reasons, whether middle-aged or barely-of-age, that are just beginning their beer/craft beer/alcohol journey. I want to take the journey with you, and together explore this world and all the happiness that accompanies it.
Back to beer ... Why blog about craft beer? I have too many friends that just don’t know there is a whole world of craft beer out there, tastes to discover, aromas that blow your mind, and some of the coolest art one can put on a bottle or a can. They’re comfortable with their macro-brews and unwilling to explore. I grew up being taught, and believing, that beer was this nasty smelling, bitter beverage that did nothing but get you into trouble with the law, your parents, and your bishop. Hence, I stayed away from the evil concoction and inappropriately judged those that imbibed. Now that the shackles of culture have been shaken off and the blinders of dogma have been removed, I have discovered that exciting world of hops, malt, yeast, and water, i.e. beer. I ask forgiveness of those I have wrongly judged and invite all to join me as, together, we see, smell, feel, and taste that next ale and/or lager just waiting for us.
